Alpha Gamma Delta -
Jenny Olen, a sophomore studying Integrative Biology on the pre-med track, is Alpha Gamma Delta's current vice president of philanthropy. In her time holding the position, she has established herself as a dedicated individual that strives to further the sorority's philanthropic cause in our community.
Alpha Gam's philanthropy centers on fighting hunger, and Jenny has organized a variety of events benefitting this cause. As Valentine's Day approaches, she is planning an event in which the women of our chapter will write Valentine's cards to be sent to participants of the Meals on Wheels program. She also collaborated with a campus fraternity on canned food drive and was able to collect over thirty pounds of food for the Eastern Illinois Food Bank.
Jenny hopes to incorporate the lessons she will learn as VP Philanthropy into her future endeavors as a doctor. "Being a doctor is all about fighting for something outside of yourself," she says. "A good doctor is someone who is not only willing to step p and be a leader, but someone charitable, who wants to help others in their community. Being in my position has shown, and continues to show me, how to grow in these aspects."
We can't wait to see what philanthropy events the rest of Jenny's time in this office will bring!
